Intermediate and Upper Intermediate Course

September 27th - 29th, The Beeches, Birmingham

of the course so you can prepare it, and the rest will be provided during the week end.

The course begins with dinner and playing on Friday evening, and ends with lunch on Sunday. Pitch A=415

The theme for the September course is 'divisions'. Don't panic! We won't be expecting you to improvise vistuosic solo twiddly fiddly parts out of thin air. We will spend some time looking at how to go about embellishing your part with a few well chosen 'divisions' or 'diminutions', according to the practises of the time, and then encourage you to try some out. We will even write some friendly examples out for you. One of the set pieces will be a 'plain' version and an 'ornamented' version of the same piece. Watch this space (we're writing it as you read this...!) In the meantime you can apply here.

These courses are for anyone who considers themselves to be of an intermediate or upper intermediate standard and would like to improve both their individual technique and consort playing experience. We will look at the set repertoire, covering choices of fingering and bowing which can then be applied in one-to-a-part consort sessions. Further music will be provided , some in advance
