Lower Intermediate

The Elementary and Lower-Intermediate courses are taking a sabbatical for 2025! 
If you would like to apply as a member of a pre-formed consort we can help you find other players at your level.

These courses are designed as a stepping stone between the Elementary and  Intermediate courses. There are technique sessions, a few set pieces to study together, and friendly, relaxed consort playing. There will be plenty of help and advice with things like bowing, fingering, first and half position, making a good sound - do bring any questions you might have!
Here are some helpful guidelines for the level of a Lower Intermediate course:
- Pieces will be in first position and half position. We will help you shift between the two.
- Most, if not all, of the consort playing will be one-to-a-part
- We will send you more pieces in advance, in addition to the set repertoire, so not all other sessions will be sight reading
